01. How would you define Sleep?

Sleep has a specific meaning to me, and if I meet someone in person I’m usually willing to share my view. But I also like to keep it open for interpretation. It means a lot of different things to different people and I don’t want to get in the way of that.

02. How did all begin? How long have you been with this?

I started drawing the Sleep TV about 10 years ago. At first it was just something I doodled on scraps of paper around my apartment, then I began drawing the design on matchbooks to leave in Seattle bars for people to find. I started paying more attention to stickers on the street and it occurred to me that my image would be fun to do as a sticker. That was around 2011 and I’ve been making stickers ever since.

03. Why do you attaching stickers?

Stickers are a fast and fun way to distribute an image in very large quantities.

04. An interesting anecdote?

Someone once threw a Slurpee at me. It missed though.

05. How do you see the sticker culture? Is there really subculture?

Sociological studies have defined subcultures as groups that serve to motivate a potential member to adopt the artifacts, behaviors, norms, and values characteristic of the group. So, yeah I guess so.

06. Do you considerer this movement like an art? What do you try to transmit with this?

Hmmm. I don’t always think the sticker itself is art. In many cases it’s the placement and repetition of the sticker that is the art.

07. Anything new in mind?

3D sculptures perhaps.

08. Farthest place where do you have gone? Where would you like see your stickers?

Farthest is probably Budapest, Hungary. The ultimate sticker spot for me would be on one of the moon flags. You know, they say all the moon flags have faded to white now. I’m not sure if that’s relevant but it is an interesting fact.

09. Some advice for the people are beginning in this art?

Take a screen printing class. It’s awesome!

10. Someone who had been a reference for you?

Oh man, yes of course! I hope I don’t miss anybody… Comfy, Arrex, Blink, Frend, Abot, JustOne, Starheadboy, Narboo, TNGLR, Baldmanwatching, 1+1=3, Dead Red, Spring Break, CTRL-Z, Trud, Heck, The Lost Cause, Dr. Rasterbator, Kanye, Skam, Derp, Shitbarf, Skrumpy, Invoice, Voxx Romana, A.
