01. Smile

01. How would you define Smile?

It´s pretty simple. I just want to make people smile and enjoy the little things while walking through the streets.

02. How did all begin? How long have you been with this?

It all started in the 90´s with Graffiti and I got more into stickers. At first only with letters and slowly but surely more and more with characters. One day the Cone-head was formed by accident while doing a classic DHL Sticker. It just fit well somehow.

03. Why do you attaching stickers?

It´s an easy way to get up and around and I loved stickers since my childhood when it was very popular to collect and swap all the stickers for the so called Panini Albums. Mostly with Cartoon Series` and stuff like this. Another influence have been all the skateboard graphics and stickers from that time too of course.

04. An interesting anecdote?

The police once pulled over while me and some other artists had been just about to slap some stickers onto a wall and than asked us if it is non permanent and we of course said no and that it´s no problem at all to erase them. So they replied that it´s ok as long as we get on plain and slick things. When we finished talking a friend also handed one of them a sticker of his. It was so funny to see the cops face with this “ I don´t know if that´s right?!” look. Our Slogan for this day than had been “Remember. Only stick on stuff that´s worth it!”

05. How do you see the sticker culture? Is there really subculture?

I think it´s a lovely worldwide community with so many talented and open minded people who just share their love of stickers by sharing and trading them. For me it really has been very new when I first realized it about three years ago when I installed Instagram. Before that I just did it on my own and didn´t realized there is such a big and nice community. So yes I definitely think you can call it a subculture.

06. Do you considerer this movement like an art? What do you try to transmit with this?

Sure its´art. At least in my opinion. I mean just check all these handmade and so damn great stickers where people take hours to finish them.
Like I mentioned right at the beginning I only try to make the world or at least some people a bit more positive with my little characters and graphics. For example to make you smile even on a Monday morning.

07. Anything new in mind?

Always having new stuff in mind but that´s sometimes the problem. You just have two arms and the day only 24 hours. Really got into Paste Ups and bigger stuff the last year or so.

08. Farthest place where do you have gone? Where would you like see your stickers?

I sadly haven´t got that far on my own but my stickers are almost all around the globe from sharing the with other artists or friends who took them on their vacations. Just got some shots from Russia today for example. Don´t have any special places to be honest as long as they let people grin for no reason.

09. Some advice for the people are beginning in this art?

Just do what you love and you can´t be wrong.

10. Someone who had been a reference for you?

I think it would be a way to long list to mention every artist who inspired me.

11. Whom would you offer next month?

In my opinion Joiny Joy from Cologne is a good choice cause I barely know anyone else who puts up as much stuff as him. Sure not only stickers but definitely more than enough.

Do you have anyting to say? Greatings and thank you?
